“Personalized...or creepy?”
🎵I got an email from our local soccer club about an game with an upcoming concert. I had some interest so I clicked and took a look. The schedule wasn’t going to work out for me so I closed out the tab.
📲A couple of days later, I got the text in the image below.
🍪I’m used to the fact that if I browse for an item or event, that I’ll see ads across various platforms. Cookies...I get it.
😬But this felt downright creepy
🕵️♂️Is someone at the club watching my web behavior and then trying to sell me tickets?
😣A text, to me, is one of the most “personal” communication modes. If I don’t know you or if I haven’t given you explicit permission to text me, it feels invasive.
👀Was someone really individually watching. Nah of course not.
❌But in an attempt to follow the trend of “Our experiences must be personalized. Everyone wants personalization!”...this one crossed the line.
